Starting Your Therapy Journey

HOW IT WORKS

Initial Consult

01

I begin with a free 15-20 minute consultation to understand your needs, answer your questions, and see if we’re a good fit. We can also schedule your first session during this time.

Intro & Intake

02

First Session, 75 minutes.

In this first session, we will go over paperwork and get to know each other. This session is a bit longer, so I can get a good idea of your needs and how I can help you. We will explore your personal history, current challenges, and work together to set clear, meaningful goals for therapy.

Goals & Treatment Plan

03

Sessions 2-4, 45 mins.

At the beginning, I recommend we meet once a week for the first 4 weeks so we can keep up the momentum gained in session. Based on your goals and unique circumstances, we’ll create a tailored plan that outlines our focus areas and therapeutic methods.

Regular Sessions

04

We will then schedule regular 45-minute sessions based upon your needs and schedule.

Each session is YOURS. You can talk about the bigger things that maybe you didn’t think you wanted to talk about, or you can talk about the person who cut you off in traffic earlier that day. YOU guide the session.

We’ll continue to work through challenges using evidence-based techniques, building self-awareness, resilience, and healthier patterns.

Checkins & Continued Growth

05

We’ll regularly review your progress, adjust goals as needed, and ensure therapy remains effective and aligned with your evolving needs.

During therapy, I will provide the tools, resources, and support needed for long-term growth and well-being.

After Hours

06

If you have an emergency after hours, call 911. For any non-emergency need or concern, you can contact me through the client portal messaging system or go to the ‘Resources’ page for local points of contact for a variety of needs.

PERSONALIZED SUPPORT

Focused Areas of Care

Parents of Young Children

Parenthood changed everything. Even when you're surrounded by love and family, you may notice:

  • Feeling overwhelmed, irritated, or constantly on edge.

  • Feeling guilty balancing parenting and partnership with your own needs, while comparing yourself to others who seem to juggle it all with ease.

  • Feeling confused by emotions that come up when your child’s big feelings trigger memories of your own.

  • Feeling drained by the never-ending cycle of “Am I doing enough? Am I a good parent?”

  • Feeling isolated from your friends or misunderstood in your relationships.

  • Work has either become an escape from the overwhelming emotions or another place where worry follows you.

It’s not that you aren’t capable – it’s that you have been carrying too much, often silently.

Counseling can help you:

  • Untangle the emotions that surface as roles and relationships change.

  • Build confidence in yourself and your parenting.

  • Break free from cycles of worry, comparison, and address guilt, shame, or exhaustion that keeps you stuck.

  • Develop healthy boundaries to protect your energy and relationships without losing your sense of belonging.

  • Rebuild a sense of identity and self-worth in this stage of life, and reconnect with who you are outside of being a parent.

Parents of Adult Children

The house is quieter, and your routines shift. This stage can bring up old memories or emotions you set aside while raising your family or building your career. With fewer distractions, those feelings resurface, leaving you unsure of what to do with them.

You may notice…

  • Mourning the role that defined so much of your adult life, while trying to find your place in this new season.

  • Your role as a parent is changing, and with it, your bond with your child. You feel a distance growing; conversations may be strained or full of misconnections.

  • Family gatherings that once felt simple now leave you drained or feeling misunderstood.

  • Becoming a grandparent isn’t what you expected – it feels complicated, or you’re uncertain how to stay involved.

  • Looking back at your life, your choices, and relationships, and wondering if they match the picture you once imagined.

  • A sense of distance in your friendships and daily life, leaving you longing for more connection and meaning.

Together, we’ll explore this stage of life and help you find balance – so you can honor both your role as a parent and your identity as an individual.

Counseling can help you:

  • Navigate changing relationship dynamics.

  • Mold new ways to be in relationships with family and friends.

  • Process unresolved memories or emotions that are resurfacing.

  • Find meaning, confidence, and fulfillment while you discover this “next chapter” of your life.

  • Learn to advocate for your wants and needs now that there is more space and time for them.

Life Transitions

Navigating coming into adulthood has its own changes and challenges when it comes to relationships. As you gain more independence, it can change what you need and want from your relationship with your parents.

You may be…

  • Feeling the weight of changing dynamics within your child-parent relationship, and not knowing where to go from here.

  • Wanting independence, while still craving connection.

  • Feeling guilty for prioritizing your needs beyond those of your friends and family.

  • Feeling burnt out by juggling the demands of new responsibilities while trying to maintain the same connection with your family and friends.

  • Have an ongoing list in the back of your mind of things you should be doing, but can’t seem to figure out how.

  • Figuring out who YOU are as an adult and where you BELONG in this new stage of life.

  • Feel like you are on the hamster wheel of adulthood, and are feeling like you are losing yourself or your connection to others.

You are not alone. These feelings are a part of the human experience when working through life’s transitional stages. With the right support, you can stop feeling lost – and feel at home in your life again.

Counseling can help you:

  • Feel less alone in the uncertainty of transitions.

  • Build healthier relationships that are supportive without overwhelming you.

  • Untangle the emotions that surface as roles and relationships change.

  • Develop healthy boundary-setting skills without the fear of losing connection.

  • Rebuild a sense of identity and self-worth in this stage of life.

  • Navigate your relationship with your parents now that you are moving into a more independent role.

  • Learn how to feel confident, trust yourself, and seek help when it’s needed.
